Obituary of Madalene M. Mader

Madalene M. Mader, age 90, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Parkview Heights in Garnett.

She was born September 26, 1927 in Greeley, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Schrader) Seifert. Madalene graduated from Greeley High School in 1946. She taught school for two years, one year in Greeley and one year in Rantoul. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide and Transcriptionist of Records at the Anderson County Hospital from 1952 to 1992.

Madalene married Blaze Frank "Bill" Mader on May 26, 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley.

She and Bill spent their entire lives on their farm in rural Anderson County. When Madalene wasn't working at the hospital she could be found helping Bill on the farm.

Madalene will be remembered for her smile and orneriness. She never met a stranger and loved spending time with family, friends, or anyone that would take the time to visit. Getting the upper hand on Madalene was nearly impossible.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Mader on March 8, 1995; her parents, Joseph and Anna Seifert; In-Laws, Victor and Bertha Mader; brother, Lawrence and wife, Betty Seifert in 1997; brother-in-law, Carl "Stub" Mader in 2008; brother, Ambrose Seifert in 2009; brother-in-law, Joseph "Joe" Mader in 2017; six nephews.

Madalene is survived by her sister-in-laws, Teresa Seifert and Juliana Mader; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, with burial following in the Holy Angels Cemetery. A rosary will be held at the church on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m., with visitation to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's or St. Rose School.
